Shark Dive
The Hamada is a cargo wreck that sank in 1993 just off the village of Abu Ghusun. At 5-18 m it's one of Egypt's most accessible and photogenic wrecks - and reaching it is easy: hotel pickup, a scenic transfer south, then a short speedboat hop to the wreck.
Hamada Wreck . Gallery
The Hamada was a Cypriot cargo vessel carrying plastic granules when it sank in 1993 in shallow water just off Abu Ghusun, south of Marsa Alam. The day is straightforward and relaxed: we pick you up at your hotel, transfer you south along the coast to the speedboat launch point, and after a clear briefing on the wreck and its history the speedboat drops you right over it. The wreck rests on its port side in 5-18 metres, broken into clear, well-lit sections that are entirely accessible - ideal for first wreck dives and photographers. Dive one explores the hull and easy swim-throughs; after a surface break with water and snacks, dive two combines the stern with the adjacent reef, where healthy hard corals host lionfish, glassfish, octopus, and morays. Your guide explains the wreck section by section and keeps the pace easy, so the dives stay fun rather than rushed. You are back at your hotel about 5 hours after pickup.
