About this trip

The Hamada was a Cypriot cargo vessel carrying plastic granules when it sank in 1993 in shallow water just off Abu Ghusun. The wreck rests on its port side in 5–18 metres, broken into clear sections and entirely accessible - ideal for first wreck dives, photographers, and divers who want to combine wreck and reef in a single outing. The adjacent reefs offer healthy hard corals and a resident community of fish.

Plastic granules from the cargo still scattered around. Environmental story too.

My first wreck dive. The Hamada is perfect for beginners, shallow, easy to navigate.

  • No - penetration on the Hamada is light and well-lit. A wreck specialty is recommended for deeper interior swim-throughs but not required for the standard tour.
